Hi,
Has anyone out there any knowlege or experience of repairing these!
The canon motor has developed an intermittent fault. It sometimes stops in a position which needs the shaft to be moved to re-start.On investigation it seems some solder has thrown off where the windings join the end of the armature, and I assume there is a bad segment or similar!
I have tried Canon ,who do not appear to have representation in the UK.Nor do they seem to give phone contact details.Tried Raymarine,as indeed I have before without success.Poor product support if anything more than 2 yrs old.Spent ages waiting for some activity in the states, before hanging up!
The motor I guess is typical of what may be used in printer carriage drives or in models. It is 12v by I think about 50w,and is cylindrical 50mm long&30mm diam.

Sounds like it has stalled in use and burnt out a winding.

Canon motors were bought in from the far east in bulk and stopped years ago ( at least 15). Maplins did a similar one at one time, not sure if they still do, radio control models use them. During the life of the model with this motor they used various manufacturers, so it would be worth having a hunt around, the biggest thing to check is the shaft where the cog goes on as thye differ in size and some and "D" format, just need to match up then swap the cog over.

Good luck

I replaced mine only last year, whilst I was at it I replaced the drive belt and plastic cogs. I got the spares I think from Raymarine no problem and not too expensive. I will try and find the number I used as I think they normally deal with the trade.

Paul.
