Anyone had experience of auto trim tab/drive trim systems? such as these

Having a small boat that lists if someone sneezes, I find myself spending more time on the trim tabs than I do on wheel. I also quite fancy the idea of accelerating out of Portsmouth harbour without the flurry of trim tab, throttle and drive trim activity while trying to avoid the ferries.

Do they work?

Cheers

Sealine mistakenly fitted Auto trim tabs to my S42 when it was built towards the end of 2003, (apparantly they are only meant for the German market?) and I have to say, they are brilliant. On numerous occassions I have felt grateful for the boat to be 'trimming itself', regardless of sea conditions and direction of travel. Even in a force 7/8 planning downwind, those little lights dancing around kept the boat perfectly balanced and gave a great deal of confidence to me.
Having had two previous boats without them, I now know that even if you had nothing else to do than adjust the trim tabs, you still wouldn't be able to keep up with the way they adjust automatically. If you have the ability to retro-fit them or specify them at point of order, I would certainly recommend it, IMHO, of course.

Regards,
J.

Without doubt fit them.

Had boat leveller tabs on previous boat & were always adjusting tabs, now have eltrim auto tabs on our sealine 240 & the difference is unmeasurable, although probably an expensive option they are worth the extra.

Hello Andrew,

I don't know what tabs you have, but auto tab control is great and works well. If you have Bennett tabs, their system is excellent and is adaptable to some other hydraulic tabs. Vist www.marinecomponents.co.uk, www.bennetttrimtabs.com or contact me (david@marinecomponents.co.uk) for more information.

Release your hands to enjoy your boat!!

David
