I bought the digital mapping and seaclear lite from the 'visit my harbour guy'
It all works fine on my lap top as does the AIS ( thanks to furum assist!)
I have been selecting waypoints and manually transfering them to my old Garmin track plotter which sits in the cockpit.
This is tedious and ( more importantly) error prone.
Is there a way I can 'save' waypoints created via this package and transfer them to the Garmin ( the Garmin has a series connector and I used simply up load coord lists with a previous bit of software)
Thanks for any info.

Moving stuff from VMH SeaClear charts to a Garmin

It depends on if you have the DVD version or the updated USB version. With the DVD version, it's down to putting the Lat/longs in by hand when transferring waypoints, routes, tracks etc to another type of device like a Garmin.

Getting the same from a Garmin TO the SeaClear Chart package is do-able, by using the G7toWin executable to convert the native Garmin .GPX files to G7T files which can be opened by the SeaClear chart package.

With the updated USB version routes, tracks, waypoints etc can be saved from the SeaClear chart package by going (with your route on screen) FILE >>> ROUTE >>> EXPORT to a G7T file.

Drag the G7T file straight into the G7toWin executable icon, and FILE >>> SAVE AS >>> a .GPX file. This is compatible with Garmins, and can be read by them.

The G7toWin executable is on the DVD or USB, it can be downloaded freely online, and can translate a lot of different GPS stuff into different formats, such as .KML for Google Earth.

Hope this helps,

Their website says:
Import and export of routes, waypoints and tracks using G7ToWin and to G7T and Waypoint+ text file format. Export of waypoints and routes to supporting NMEA devices.
It shouldn't be much of a problem as your Garmin must take NMEA input. I have made it work with about half a dozen programs but never tried Seaclear. N.B. I do not believe the "routes" bit in "Export of waypoints and routes to supporting NMEA devices". I have never seen a system which can export routes using NMEA, they all simply send them as a list of unconnected waypoints. If I'm wrong I'd love to know as I've started to believe it's impossible.

By the way, what do you mean by a "series" connector? An RS232? All the little Garmins I have seen have a four pin Garmin plug which can be directly connected to a serial port on a computer (or a USB to serial adaptor). My crib sheet below might help with this:
