Auto Steering

The mechanical part of the Robertsons autopilot on my Fairline Turbo 36 returns the display message "Rudder response failure". I can hear the motor on the hydraulic pump working when I activate the autopilot but the rudders do not move although the power steering does work okay. Does anyone know what might be causing the problem?

I agree it sounds like air in the system but as all the autosteering tubes and the power steering tubes interconnect, and the p/steerinfg works, logic says it cannot be air in system but I could be wrong.

Had the same problem whith my Robertson. Took the pump apart & cleaned it. All ok. Also checked the rudder sender. Now it steers the boat ok and it doesn't seem to suffer from the ear bashing I get when I'm steering.
Only trouble I have now is finding who can work on them. I want to change the NEMA input format for the navigator. I've got the hand book but there seems to some variation between my PC board and the one shown in the book so very wary about messing about with a working bit of kit.
If anybody knows who is the agent local to Brighton I'd be obliged.

Chris.

What do you mean the sea gull in front's walking !!!
