Probably been said before but was having problems with the belt not gripping on the auto pilot drive wheel mounted on the main steering wheel, all the eration had worn off due to constant wear, solution get an old drive belt and stick it teeth side up so that teeth on the driving belt match up and act as a pair of gears, only thing you may need a bigger diameter belt as the fitting of the belt onto the wheel hub increases the diameter and so a longer belt is necessary unless you have plenty of adjustment. Belt stick well to alloy hub after cleaning with thinners or similar and stick using sikofle or similar.

I had this problem and cured it by mixing up some gelcoat , you could use epoxy as well , and carefully creating small ridges across the large drive wheel behind the steering wheel . This created extra grip for the ridges on the belt .
It is still working after many years .

I use one turn of self adhesive rubber draught proofing on the large drive wheel behind the steering wheel, a brown 'triple ribbed' type (rubber side out). The slight adjustment on the motor mounting bracket is enough to allow free movement on the steering when tension is released.
