Auto helm handheld fluxgate compass

Hi all I'v inherited one of these and its been in the chart drawer for ages . Out of courisity today i somehow turned it on but how the hell do I turn it off /forums/images/graemlins/blush.gif Its only got 3 buttons -------- and still I cant turn it off . google doesnt help so I turn to the panel for help .

Thanks for that early bird cos I just chucked it back in the drawer and hoped the battery would soon discharge . /forums/images/graemlins/smile.gif
 
as you probably already know the compass is also an elapsed time/ or stopwatch as well as holding bearings taken and recalling I believe up to about 8 bearings via the memory button. Mine is one of the originals (at the time about £70),later model had a backlight for use at night. I used it also for double checking my main compass as there was a fair amount of 'heavy iron 'close by that I was told could alter the deviation when running!
it cut off by itself, and I'm still using the original battery from around 1987.
 
Memory actually holds 9 bearings (handy for 3 replicates of 3 targets). If you do more it over-writes the first etc. Great pieces of kit for compass fixes, though it is important not to tilt them too mch while taking a bearing.
