I have a Motorcat 30 that is powered by two 50hp outboards. The steering is hydraulic via a SeaStar HC5358 ram and SeaStar HH5271 helm pump and I would like to add a powered pump for an autohelm. SeaStar suggest a PA6010 ($2.8k - $3.5k) if I can get one here in the UK.

Can anyone suggest a suitable alternative, and am I likely to come across any significant problems? I'm working on the basis that it could be a diy project, but if there are any recommendations for a supplier/fitter in Essex, I would appreciate suggestions.

Any advice welcomed.

Plus whatever autopilot controller you want

Raymarine is by far the cheapest option, fitting is trivial. Get any hoses you need made up by an online hose maker.
