G'day John,

Get lots of sleep on the flight, your gona need it.

Just pack plenty of sun screen, shorts, long sleeve shirts and big wide brim hat.

Also note the beer in this part of the world has a high alcohol content, if you prefer spirits, you must have a Bundy Rum and coke.

There are lots of websites just type Pittwater into Google.

Andavagoodweekend......

And if you want to sail: Middle Harbour Yacht Club have a crew sign-up system to match racing skippers with volunteer crew. A great location and a very relaxed club with a barbecue after racing.

I am making just this trip in April and have been in touch with a couple of charters on pittwater. they charter by the day or longer, the area looks fab! I would apprciate your feedback when youve been as to the preffered sailing area, sydney harbour agianst pittwater, my misses will stand for one short chater only 2-4 days and i want to make the most of such a golden opportunity!

Totally agree with Oldsaltz ......try the Bundy its really smooth ...very easy to get hooked....try the triple distilled. Its on sale now in Scotland but at £19 its a luxury for us OAP/s.
SWMBO/s book of our trip "A Beach for Christmas" is now at the printers.

just come back after spending a month there - kids ( 7, 5 and 2) cried when we came back asking did we have to go back to the dark place :-)
I know now why they call the UK the mud island.

Pittwater offers really lovely sailing, anchorages surrounded by national park (on the western side)and unlike Sydney Harbour, not busy with commercial traffic - tankers, ferries etc.
The Basin (Coasters Retreat) is a superb place to pick up a mooring, you can use the BBQs etc at the camping area if you go ashore (for a small fee). Really nice and protected. If you're there mid-week, you can pick up a club mooring with virtually no chance of being asked to find another by an arriving club member.
If you venture round the corner towards the Hawkesbury, Refuge Bay/America Bay are great to drop an anchor for the night.
Pittwater never has a swell and is a great place for a few days.
You're bound to enjoy it.
