August Race 'Boat Bomb' Anti Mould, Air Conditioner

Isn't that just like the things you can buy for cars as "air con cleaners", except with a silly "marine" price premium? I've used them in a couple of cars, they seem to work OK. The ones for cars start from about £3.

Dunno. It's the anti-mould side of it I'm vaguely interested in - though a nice, fresh smelling interior has its appeal .

The car "bombs" contain fungicide, to kill mould growing in the aircon system. The difference with a car is that you set the aerosol bomb off with the ventilation system blowing full speed, so the contents get distributed around the car. This wouldn't happen in a boat, so you might get a pleasant smell for a while in the area you set the thing off in. It would be a lot cheaper to try one of the car ones first.

For me it's the damp/condensation that leads to potential mould that is the problem, since I moved the boat to France and the marina power supplies have 24 hr timers so you have to push the button every day to maintain 240v mains to the boat. I have several of the absorbent type 'dehumidifiers' on board but more to make me feel better than with any hope of managing the issue.
I'm still looking for a local I could bribe to stroll down the pontoon push the button every day for me...!

Sufficient ventilation should be enough.

Indeed, mine in Portugal, Spain and Gibraltar for the last 6 years hasnt had a problem. We keep the aft cabin hatches cracked and there is a dorade in the saloon permanently open.
