Auctions of abandoned boats

Perhaps worth speaking with Graham Cockle of BCVA in Bristol.

They handled the sale of abandoned boats in the harbour in Feb of this year.

I guess the harbour masters at Exmouth, Plymouth also ? And ebay also ?

EDIT

I do like the "as far as England" comment ! :)

I'm as far SW as possible, but would go as far as England, or at least Dorset.

We once had a week' s holiday in Bude, Cornwall. On one day we visited Bideford. When we mentioned this to the ancient Cornish gentleman next door, he snorted "Huh, Devon!" With real disgust!

Put a wanted ad in your local paper, it's amazing what you may get in reply.

I advertised for a tender/dinghy once and got twenty seven replies.

Might be worth pinging a question to MDL head office (and those of other large marinas too) - in the years that we've been MDL berthholders I've seen a couple of auctions of abandoned boats organised by them. A friend got a perfectly serviceable small cruiser for a few hundreds of pounds - the owner had disappeared, leaving it in the boatyard and the berthing fees had mounted up. The MDL management made an effort at tracking down the current owner, failed, then declared the boat theirs under the terms of the contract to recoup at least part of the outstanding fees.
