ATYC Rally

A pity that, yet again, there was insufficient support for the rally to go ahead in its intended form. We are not usually attendees but had decided to go this year and try and lend a little support. However, there were clearly not enough takers to make the main functions viable. It would appear that only the West India Dock rally now attracts enough support which is a pity as there are many who do not wish to tackle the tide way. Regrettably, there are few locations on the nontidal able to accommodate a large scale gathering. Some may have noticed that the Medway managed to achieve a significant attendance at Maidstone recently.
Understand the gathering at Kingston will go ahead on a reduced scale and we still intend to attend in the hope that there will be enough of us to make a good weekend of it.

Clearly a vast amount more than those who do :nonchalance

These particular events seem to fail more than succeed. There is clearly a huge issue which needs addressing within the ATYC....

UTMYC managed to get 13 boats down to us, not a few of which would have struggled to do the distances and journey involved .
Perhaps its local quickie "just round the corner" events which are losing their attraction and if folks have got to go to some effort to get the boat shipshape ie. get all the the junk aboard, the trip really has got to be worth the effort.
RCC attendance could be due to a desperate need to go somewhere/anywhere after so many prior weather related cancellations ?

Yes, but UTMYC are intelligent and well organised, notwithstanding lovely charismatic people.... :encouragement:
