ATYC rally next weekend - anyone going?

Quite a few I'm told

I'm told by a mate from the ATYC that around 70 boats are booked in. Lots of my boating mates are driving down too, tho.

We're certainly sailing up - leaving Hampton Court on Wednesday evening. Hopefully we get thru Penton Hook before we can no longer be a*sed! Then Marlow for Thursday evening and Whitchurch by Friday night!

I am told, tho, but the same mate, that the river is very busy around Reading because of the festival there this weekend too. That'll be handy with Caversham!

It's a while since I passed thru locks at night - are they on public power all night now or is there a cut-off?

Reading Festival

I have often been passed the Reading Festival site on the Friday afternoon and weekend and have never experienced any undue delays at Caversham lock. There are usually a few boats mooored at the site, but not enough to cause a problem. Any delay is more likely to be caused by the ATYC boats heading upstream as Caversham is a relatively small lock.

We will be there as a complete opposite to the Rewind festival this weekend!

Anyone else going to the ATYC rally??

yup me certainely going to atyc rally for the first time and i am really keen to watch that event ..... can i know when this rally is going to start and what are its tickets cost can they be booked now????? i want to know what are the major attractions of this festival which are interesting to watch??

UTMYC

Congratulations to the UTMYC entrants.
1st and 2nd individual
1st team
1st Family
1st Lady (I believe).

Anyone would think they were trying!

Congratulations to Swan Radcot, who came 2nd and for their recent reign.

I popped up Sunday morning to watch the competition.
Good number of boats and a nice location, although it was a shame that the route to the cafeteria was a) long and b) boggy, especially as there was a much shorter route but presumably reasons why it was not available. I smell H&S!!

We had a lovely weekend and met quite a few people from other clubs. Congratulations on the boat handling. I do agree the water/mud trail was an absolute disaster the first night, but thanks to someone in authority my high heeled walk on Sunday was a lot easier and still a laugh. Fun had by all!!!!!

It was the usual great weekend, as Bray had only two boats in attendance we were forced to share a table with the Windsor club - but they made us really welcome and we thoroughly enjoyed both nights. An excellent quiz on Saturday and good dance music last night. We even cruised back with some of them today.

Hopefully Beale Park has learnt something about the muddy path (it also had an electrified fence alongside it!) and any future rallies will be better organized.

Well done to the Upper Thames team.

Doubt it, the path has been muddy since time immoral (!) certainly in my experience from several (3) IWA rallys there.

It was lovely to meet you again, if only, briefly. Totally agree about the muddy path! Simply redicous and dangerous. That was the only thing that spoiled a great weekend.

Good weekend was had by most, I trust. Managed second place in the veterans class though. Combined age of 180 plus.............so thats me then !! not sure about the other 2........oh yes, sorry, thats my weight in pounds;)
Have to confess , we have won before though, thats a few years back.
The muddy path was a disgrace, especially when SWMBO earthed the live electric fence!! flash and a bang so out with the hair straightners next day !!
Good idea, an electric fence, rain and 100 odd people on a pitch black muddy path, I think not.
Well done Upper Thames:)
