I seem to recall someone on this forum had a business supplying "belly bands" etc for tenders on davits. Could someone remind me who it is?

Thanks.

Ive been on the web site (which is also well presented) and need to do some measurements on my tender before I order the strops. Just for info - I found several 'cheaper' alternatives to those offered by SpottyDog5 but theirs are customised for the specific installation/dinghy combination. All the others I found, whilst adjustable so I wouldnt need to measure, were offset by the very low weight rating on them which was probably to do with the strength of the buckle. The Rapid Marine strops carry a certified rating up to five times (300-500Kgs) those of the adjustable variety (generally 100Kgs). I've had a tender partially part company from the boat at speed many years ago so I always treat it with caution and trepidation. I've had no dealings with this particular company before so I'll provide my own feedback at some point although so far they seem to tick all the right boxes.

They are best quality including the Stainless Steel so worth the money IMHO.

Good evening
We have our buckle especially cast for us in 316 st/st and independently tested to meet the certification.
If you call, speak to Mike, he has been making lifting and securing strops for some 20 years and has lots of useful advice to share.
I think belly bands are a much under used item, simple way of supporting the tender, taking all the strain of the lifting points and gear.
Thankyou for your interest .

Many Thanks Roy. I'm heading to the boat this weekend to measure up. Its a Honwave 3.8 on the back of a Squadron 43 where the davits are not directly over the lifting eyes so it will be an interesting one. Whenever I take my boat out of the lock I use ratchet strops to secure the dinghy against the davits - not ideal as it would take too long in the case of 'an emergency' to get her in the water hence looking to do it 'properly' with bespoke strops and belly bands. I will be in touch shortly.

Ramage, I hope your Davit Mountings are in better shape than mine! I have had to put a Strap across both davits to stop them rotating outwards ie as the tender comes up the davits tend to rotate outwards so the strap keeps the davits equidistant to each other. Problems of a 40year old boat i guess.

Bought webbing lifting strops, connecting strops and belly bands from these guys - superb service and look much better than the rusting chains and ratchet strops I was using previously. Defo recommended and Mike is quite a character to talk to and knows his onions. One very pleased customer.
