Attaching a hull anode to a Volvo MD2010

The Volvo manual warns against grounding the flywheel casing or power transmission as they are electrically insulated from the rest of the engine. MgDuff advise me that, for it to be effective, I need to attach the hull anode to the gear box and engine casing as well as using an electro eliminator.
Is there anywhere on the engine casing where I can attach the bonding to the anode? The workshop manual says that one of the screws on the flywheel housing has an insulation sleave. Does anyone know what that is for?
BTW I have tried to find an official Volvo Penta help desk on the Web but got nowwhere.

I would attatch to the bolts, that hold the engine mounts to the cylinder block.

Hi Miker, I am a Volvo technician and just this week installed a 2040 in a sailboat, and yes the manual does indeed warn against bonding the engine and gearbox. The lower gearbox has its own dedicated anode in front of the prop. I don't know who Mcduff is but do not connect the hull anode, engine block and gearcasing all together as you will then render the electrical isolation between the engine/ g.box ineffective, remember Volvo made it that way for a reason.

Thanks. MGDuff supply anodes in the UK. The hull anode is not particularly effective just connected to the shaft by the carbon brushes on the electro eliminator. Presumably, I will have to rely on a decent shaft anode and the prop anode.

Hi Mike
I have a Volvo 2030 With a sail drive. I understand that the manual says that the sail drive is isolated from the engine.
I have attached an anode and connected it to the sail drive via a large nut which fixes the drive to the hull. Asuming yours is a sail drive then this is probably the way to go.
No doubt I will be proved wrong but the manual should put you in the right direction.

Thanks but it isn't a sail drive. The 2010 has a prop shaft which is supported by a GRP P bracket.
Until convinced otherwise, I'm playing it safe and relying on a shaft anode plus the prop anode.
