Hello.
I need to strip down my windlass which has no makers name or manufacturing details so I'm trying to add a photo but with know luck.
I've clicked on the attachment below the thread, then browse which comes up with the file and that's as far as I can get. An e-mail sent to ybw asking for help but I've not had a reply and that was 4 days ago.
Where am I going wrong.
Ta

Here's the pic of the windlass

Does it have ( or does it appear to have had :) ) a logo ( cast into the casing ) on it that looks something like a gull in flight? If so it could well be a Goiot.

Could it be this one http://www.goiot.com/bdd/pdf/73.pdf

Its a Lofrans Royal.
I have just completed a strip-down on mine which was a learning experience. There are no maintenance guides on-line and the only bit of reference I could find was an exploded parts list at http://www.lofrans.it/english/dimensions.html. Click on View drawing.
A word of warning - the hex on the top is not a filler of any kind... it is a stub axle for a horizontal bevel gear. There is a similar one on the bottom. If you remove and attempt to replace it without stripping the unit down you will strip the threads, guaranteed.

No there's no markings so the photo is the best indicator of it's make, thanks for that. I now have a couple of replies to look at
Cheers
