Hi all, I'm a new member of this forum and I have to say the content is excellent, I am looking for either an Atlantic 38 or a Broom 38 and was wondering are any of either type either coming to market soon or is anyone looking to sell privately off market.
Thanks in advance

there is a broom38 for sale in mayflower marina Plymouth. On with network yachts and looks tidy enough I think if that's any help

It has been on the market for a long time - we viewed it over 18 months ago and it had been on for a while then. It is a tidy boat with money having been spent by the owner. Trouble is one of the big ticket items was full teak decks and having had them on our Broom 41 we definitely didn't want them again.

Yes, that Broom 38 looks well but I agree that the teak is a bad idea. It says in the ad that the teak was replaced in 2007. Not a great option if it only lasts 9 years.
I viewed one in Reading recently but it was very tired and unloved. The 250hp Yanmars had 3700 hours on them so seemed excessive to me.
Also, are the 220hp Mercruisers found in some Broom 38's and 36's best avoided? I think they might be an Italian base engine.

Mercruisers wouldn't be my first choice but would probably look at the overall condition of the boat and the deal before making a final decision. There is a nice one on with NYA with Mercruisers and if we were still after one we would be giving it serious consideration.

3,700 hours on river based boats isn't unheard of - lots of low speed use and sitting waiting for locks (Thames).

The Broom 38 with 3700 hours was used as a charter boat for the first few years, it also spent time on the south coast and did the French Canals twice. It's now on the Thames.
Apparently there is a full service history but judging by the condition of the boat, I'm guessing a few other areas were skrimped on.
If anyone hears of a nice Broom Crown with Volvo's or Nanni's (basically not Perkins) coming to market please PM me.
