Watching the news re: youngest single handed Atlantic record attempt, whilst I admire the attempt, It is not the same as others who have done this journey he has boat cover ie: his dad! Am I splitting hairs?

Personally, I think you are. Its a tremendous undertaking for a 15yr old and I applaud the sense of adventure of both father and son.

Yes; good luck and good sailing! However whether there is any attempted or claimed record depends on the wording of the media report. Steer clear of youngest, smallest, first by.... and such like.

Let's hope he's doing the trip because he thinks it might be fun and not for any record.
I write as the joint holder of the record for the slowest failed circumnavigation of the British Isles by two Vertues sailing single handed in company. Now that was FUN!
