Anyone read the article on the A50 MBY Jan looks very nice you can chose the interior finishes including wood, comes with lots of thing standard but still a cool £52k more than the Broom 50, and with 480 volvos next to the Broom 660 cats so its slower, although more or less the same hull, AND theres not net curtains.

Well you pay less for a more "production line" boat and more to have a tweakable one. I thought it looked reasonably nice but some of the other choices of interior looked a bit weird. Pity there wasn't better info/piccies of the cabins though. Me, I'd have the pokier version any day, you don't have to use the power all the time and it costs relatively little to have it available.

Oh and the engine room access was crap on the A50.. I'd have the Broom also for the after sales service of a 200 year old company very good

Look behind the scenes of the Atlantic 50 and look behind the scenes of the Broom 50 and you will see a marked difference in quality, the Broom is by far and away a better put together boat. One thing about a Broom is you can always rely on quality.
You should know Clive... you have a 1980 Crown compare that with other 1980's boats of a similar ilk.

Carefull, I wouldn't say the Atlantic is inferior to a Broom in quality, its just that the Broom is more productionised in its manufacture, moulded bulkheads etc..
The Atlantics can be customised because the interior is handbuilt, although no doubt about Broom quality they definately feel very ordinary inside when compared to an Atlantic.

No denying its a grand boat, my only point was pound for pound the Brooms got the edge given the pedigree, power, saving after sales etc.

Actually, the newer designs that are shown in this month's MBY are no where near as ugly as they used to be, I am beginning to quite like them. Am I getting old or sumthing?????

I just can't be arsed...

The Atlantics have simply fantastic customisable interiors which the customer can virtually specify as he wishes unlike production boats where the customer can only choose the soft furnishings from a limited choice. The problem is when you come to sell a boat with somebody's idea of a dream interior it may not be to anybody else's taste so its secondhand value may bomb
Personally, I'd take the Broom 50 for this reason alone, that you'll know you'll sell it for near what you paid for it, and, in any case, the 50 has a much better cockpit arrangement IMHO
