The Khaggavisanna Transatlantic Row 2015/16

Don't know if its been reported here before but deserves a second mention.

A shame that the current world restrictions will affect such an amazing achievement and I wish him all the best.

At a time when the easing of Covid19 restrictions may be different for those over the age of 70, this chap is 73!! He could give many folks half his age a good run for their money!

How will the current world restrictions affect such an amazing achievement? He might not be able to party or fly home of a few weeks, thinking about it it might be quicker to row back. ;)

I accept the world restrictions don't affect the achievement but they will have an impact on wider recognition which won't be as far reaching due to travel/ distancing, which is a shame.

From all my contacts on that side of the pond they do have the internet and all the social media stuff.

Personally, when I get over I'll pour myself a large dram and send some postcards to some people back home.

Sandy,
I was present in Feb '17 when Elaine Hopley arrived, breaking solo records.

Having personal experience of the current Covid19 restrictions on that side of the Atlantic, I think Graham's arrival will not be as well attended and widely reported.
All very regrettable as I regard his achievement as being just as fantastic .

That's the only point I was making.

Ah now I understand. I'm not one for all this "record breaking" stuff, as long as you go and do what you do on the water and enjoy it at any age/speed/ability, that is all that I consider important. :D

Today’s Times reports he gave up 5 miles short of Antigua. Says he was blown off course and faced a further 5 days rowing to reach Barbuda when he called for help and was towed in.

Well, in that case we can completely discount the previous 2,995 miles. Not sure why we're even discussing such a half-baked failure.
