Assisted Yacht delivery recommendations

Hi folks.
I'm looking for a qualified individual to help me sail my Halcyon 27 to Portugal early summer. The boat is currently in Kent. Any recommendations? I don't have the experience or confidence to do it myself.

You really need to answer a few questions first.

Do you want to go straight down, What time frame, how many people etc.

When you have that sorted then you want to find someone you get on with.

OK Sorry.
I'm thinking the first week of June weather permitting. I say then only because the weather is most likely to be agreeable. My destination is the Marina at Povoa de Varzim near Porto in the North. Although the boat is in Hoo Marina on the Medway I would consider trucking it to Plymouth or somewhere as I gather it can be slow going west though the channel. I am qualified only to day skipper level although I have sailed on and off since I was a kid (about 40 yrs) I have a friend who wants to come who is an experienced dinghy sailor but no offshore experience.
I think more than three people would be too crowded.
I have considered trucking all the way here but its quite expensive and I'd relish the experience.
I'm slowly getting the boat suitably kitted out but I live in Portugal so don't get over much.

Hi Portogeezer, by 'qualified', do you mean a professional delivery skipper? If so, you will probably find that a delivery crew would be required as well. Have you costed that against the road delivery option? /forums/images/graemlins/cool.gif

he has a good reputaiton for boat delivery and a team of expereinced crew that he can call on - i think insurance demands a minimum of three crossing biscay

he just brought my boat back for me from ramsgate (it had to be a mid-week passgae and i work) but i know he knows his way over to spain and portugal
