Askeladden

Askeladden had some financial difficulties... but believe kept going as an operational company.

No known deales in the UK, but as a native Norwegian with resindence in the UK I could offer some help if you need .. http://dealers.askeladden.no/

Believe the range was cut down a fair bit as they never was known for the biger boats, but excellent quality overall..

Commuter Rib 10 is still going strong though...

The company I work for bought Askaladden lock ,stock and barrel, and we sold off the 250 odd boats they had in stock and regretted it ever since as the last ones produced were full of defects (the workers knew they were going down so didn't give a t**s), which cost us a lot to fix in warranty claims, so we sold the factory to another buyer and the franchise to another dealer.
I have worked on a lot of Commuters 8's and they are only mediocre in that class of boat.
The engine is the QMD Mercruiser Cummins 320hp and we changed about 10 drives as they collapsed until we hit on the idea of fitting a drive shower then they were OK.
Its very slow to get on the plane, and isn't as fast as you would hope.
I drove the Commuter 11 with the Zeus drive and it blew away every IPS boat I tested, it was very smooth and the boat actually went where you wanted it to, trouble is developing the C 11 is what broke the company so its not in production as I understand, they have trimmed down the model range and concentrated on the smaller stuff, the Z8 is a very nice boat, I delivered one about 100 miles up the coast punching into a force 5 the whole way, my back gave up first!
