On the last trip of the year I attempted to deflate the tender. Unscrewing the valve cover the whole contraption started to turn, anyway between two of us we managed to unscrew the cap. I don't understand the actual mechanics of it but was surprised the tube remained inflated. Is it set up in a way that the seal is holding good on the inside? I pumped it up again a couple of weeks ago and it is still fully inflated. I am a great beleiver in 'if it aint broke, don't fix it'. The thing is I'm not sure whether it's broke or not as it stays inflated but then.. The question is should I get someone to look at it? Or just ignore it?

If it's the sort of valve used on mainstream AVON tenders (amongst others), The valve is a simple mechanical clamp onto the fabric. It is not glued.

My present tender (MAXXON) had cheaper glued-in valves where the valve was manufacured onto a piece of fabric which had then been glued from the inside onto the main tube fabric. When these became 'unglued' I replaced them with the avon type (with added reinforcing patches glued on). These can be installed from the outside of the tube.

Inflateable Boat Supplies (IBS) is a main supplier of everything to repair inflateables.

you don't say what make the boat is. zodiacs have a cap on the valve but the whole valve also unscrews leaving just a collar.
