I was selling in Port Napoleon but not any more. Plan now is to lorry over to La Rochelle or vicinity and sail up the coast later in the year. Suggestions for dry storage or winter afloat rates? I came down the coast so know it, but can't really remember what was where.

Morbihan area is generally cheaper than La Rochelle (in my experience), not too far north from there, I believe the Vilaine might be closed for the winter so Arzal is out although if you're trucking up then going straight to Arzal might be worth a thought

+1 Arzal

La Roche Bernard might be worth considering too.

Thanks all. Looks as though lorry is the best option, though a couple of friends seem interested in taking it by sea. I will investigate your suggestions.

Been there, done that...
Lots of 'interest' till the time comes to commit...

Two years ago, we relocated from Brittany to the Med.
Stuck her on the back of a lorry. One of my smarter decisions.
If you are prepared to be flexible regarding the shipping date and you can afford to wait for a slot when they also have a boat making the trip the other way it needn't be all that expensive.

I’d be interested in knowing what the truck costs.

Having just sold my boat, and now looking around for a new one, (something along the lines of a first 27.7) I’m interested to know approx how much I need to factor in should I see a boat in like in the med. That said, if I were to find a lift keel one, I’d quite like to do the canal du midi.

I'll give a run down after my trip of the costs I have come up with. Very handy to others I would suspect.

You need to be aware of VAT issues. I was selling a Union Goods boat but the brokers decided I didn't have sufficient proof that it was still Union Goods. I had plenty. If you buy a UK boat in the EU and intend to bring it to UK, you need to pay VAT, etc..

Two years ago, I paid just north of 4K Euro for the truck.
Port La Foret (Brittany) -> Cap d'Agde
Add to that 600 Euro either side for lift out/in and unstepping and stepping of the mast.
Boat LOA 10.9m - beam 3.75m - height out of the water 3.5m - weight 7.8T

Thanks all. Sorted for Arzal.

Looking forward to rediscovering that area next year. We loved being anchored up the Blavet and the crew spent many happy hours in the 5* shower area at Lorient.

Those prices are my quotation ballpark, too.

Just have to work out travel arrangements. I, of course, cleared out the boat for sale. Now I have to get everything back to it or repurchase.
