The boats ashore on Aegina and we're back in Oxfordshire. It's cold and wet and the same old cr!p on the tele. I'm missing the smell of the sea and the feel of the wind, the cheap wine and the friendly yassa from the locals. I know it's also cold and wet in the Saronikas but the 10c difference really makes a difference to my old arthritic bones.
Now counting the days until next April and annoying myself by wasting time playing Harbour Master on my pad.

Anybody feel the same?

Looking at the photo, I thought your boat was in Oz.:p

90 year old mother in law and SWMBO starts reflexology course this week. Otherwise I would be sat on the aft deck with a can of beer in my hand and listening to Gloria Estophan. Damn, just started to feel land sick.

Wednesday in Gouvia we had the "Rain that comes before the wind" and WHAT RAIN! Sso today since around 3am we had the wind, all 32 -38kts of it. The motorboat next door snapped one of it's two bow lines and was leaning on us for a while. Marina still not fixed it but wind went to calm around lunchtime, then blew 24kts and died around an hour ago. However, all of this is without the temperature dropping below 22C in that time and mostly around 25C. Lift-out tomorrow. My guardian has my boat cover in his locked garage up in the hills and he doesn't get back from UK till Sunday (delayed due to vehicle breakdown) and I fly home Weds. morning. Cover is a bitch to get on due to incompetence of it's maker. It will be tight!

Life!

We are still enjoying the autumn sunshine, we are on Skhinoussa in Greece and walked to the Chora this morning for a coffee in a taverna overlooking Thira. This evening we had a swim and it is so peaceful, where is everyone? This is the best time to sail in the year.

It is the "Summer of Agios Dimitrios". Same here in Corfu. WONDERFUL!

Going home Weds 1300 but here's to next year!

Distance / time to nearest civilization being ???? Meaning airport, decent entertainment, shopping, etc.

Elounda, the local village, is where we anchor, five minutes walk to the village from where we leave the dinghy. Good market once a week, adequate supermarkets, bank, PO, large, mixed, local community (Greek, English, Dutch), enough bars and restaurants open to keep us busy. Good walking. 20 minute bus ride to nearest town, Agios Nikolaos, where you can get anything you want, including the marina for those that want it. Regular commuter flights to Athens from Heraklion (airport is about an hour away by car, buses do go there) with connections to the UK/rest of the world from there. The anchorage is safe in all weathers, this will be our fourth (and last) winter there.

When are you coming in?

When are you coming in?

We're planning to be there at the beginning of December. We're still enjoying the quiet cruising and the weather! We've been anchored off Skhinoussa for the last few nights, slowly making our way east to Amorgos and then Leros. We'll pop round once we're in and settled. Are you there already?

Yes we had the outlaws in town so we had to get back, see you soon.
