As its Friday....

Has anyone ever suggested a non-classic boat rally (it could be called a Real Classic rally to annoy the sea-shanty and furry beard brigade)?
Sailing an elederly fibreglass bemudian-rigged sloop I am occasionally annoyed to find one of my local (solent) harbours with a "harbour full" sign because a bunch of gaff-rigged wooden boats, most of them younger than mine, have commandeered it to sing sea shanties in and drink it dry of beer whilst holding a "classic boat" rally, to which "normal" boats are excluded. Its the beer bit that really bothers me, as well as having to sail around in the dark looking for a berth elsewhere. And its always on my long weekend off in July.
Rules for the new rally could include:
No wooden boats (except twisters, of course),
All boats to have at least one unfinished project clearly visible (in my case the deck),
No boat to have more than two fenders of the same size and shape,
No tan sails or hemp-coloured ropes,
Scrubbed teak decks and varnished dinghies are frowned upon,
Each cockpit to have at least two square feet of peeling varnish,
No electronic equipment unless it doesn't work,
Definitely no bearded sea-shanty-singers,
(nothing personal, some of my best friends are B-SSS's but he doesn't sail and he always stand his round, even if he does play the accordian).
Any boat failing the entry exams could still get in by buying the rest of the rally a round.

Any takers?....

I do think your being a little unreasonable with your restrictions. My boat hasn't got 2 sq feet of varnish on the whole topsides & all my ropes are hemp coloured. The ropes go that colour when the grease & diesel soaks into them. I mean, Be reasonable. I woulsd say that anyone with white, or correcly coloured ropes & non peeling varnish should buy me a beer.

Thats more like it!

I would think you'd need a good beer to take away the taste of the diesel, unless you'd prefer something stronger.
When I first got my boat she also had less than 2 square feet of varnish, peeling or otherwise, it having all been allowed to flake off by the previous owner. After 18 years of trying to put it back on again each spring I think I know why.
