I'm considering a product called "Flexiteek" from Advanced Marine Decking. Saw it on their stand at LB Show and was very impressed. It seems more realistic to my eye than Tek-Dek which I'd seen before and which was also on show. I wonder if anyone has experience of this product. I'm sure that it's claimed qualities of non-slip, stain resistence etc are fine - my concern is whether it continues to look real as it ages. I'm thinking of using it on the cockpit sole and sugar scoop initially.

IMHO, good product BUT much attention and skill required in order to attain a satisfactory result: at the end, according to an evaluation to rebuild the topside of a 5 meter outboard, cost slightly above real teak.

I have used it on 2 boats and the problem is getting it to stay down. you must get all the air out, as when the sun hits, the air expands and lifts the stuff.
The only surefire way is to drill a matrix of 1mm holes and then vacuum it down , just like the core of moulding.

I have Flexiteak fitted in my cockpit, been down nearly three years without any problems at all. Easy to clean and great underfoot with zero slip. Important to cut it exactly to size and work out final position before using correct adhesive and as mentioned ensure all air pockets are eased out as it is laid down.
Great product, nice finish but calculated in the end not much cost differential between flexi and the real thing. Savings in maintenance and elbow grease.

Be worth having a look at http://www.teak-solutions.com/ for Artificial Teak, Tek-Dek have a new product which they call TEK-DEK Professional
Unlike Flexiteak which seems like lino where fittings will sink in, it's solid and worked like teak. Just look and feels a lot better!

I was looking at Artificial Teak at the show and must say the Flexiteek and Tek-Dek flexible is good but not quite real enough close up.

"TEK-DEK Professional" IS!
