I may have missed this but if not am surprised that it was not reported earlier.
Apparently some lowlife torched the Marina Offices and Chandlery about 3 weeks ago!!
Fortunately the Fire Brigade got there very fast and the Chandlery itself did it go up so the building is intact. They are operating in a temporary caravan. No Wifi or card payments possible. No stores or chandlery items available as everything is smoke damaged.
Still a lovely spot to visit though.

The fire was well reported and I'm pretty sure it was mentioned on here (or maybe it was on Farcebook, can't be arrised to check!). Didn't know it was arson though

Yeah but it's a nice place to visit by boat. Even if it does come with the risk of buying another boat!

Presumably buying a boat with very little draft. I know someone who used to keep a boat in Tollesbury and the window of entry/exit was about an hour either side of HW - makes daysailing fairly difficult.

What key can open any door

Now you know that's naughty and politically incorrect!

Allegedly the gentlemen involved found that the process of putting tarmac on the drive was more onerous than they'd expected, so presented the owner with a bill rather larger than their estimate (that's a surprise!).

How very sad.

The owner seems a really genuine guy always full of information and help.

We visited last summer and arrived just as a terrific squall came through with torrential rain but it did not stop him popping down and taking a rope as we moored. Way beyond the call of duty.

We didn't keep her there after we bought her :)

Not that we wouldn't have liked to in many ways but we couldn't afford the marina and the saltings didn't meet our needs at the time (although now...)

We're not all that bothered about day sailing, we hardly ever do it (make that never now that we're on a mud berth) so that wasn't a factor

Thank you for all your comments, just to reassure all visiting yachts that Tollesbury Marina is still fully functional! The small fire has caused smoke damage to our offices and chandlery so we are in the process of refurbishing. In the meantime our chandlery will be closed but the rest of the marina, club, restaurant, brokerage and repair side operate as normal. We are able to take card payments in the Harbour View Bistro & Clubhouse. The free WiFi service will resume when we have the BT connections back in place. We look forward to welcoming you over the Summer!

With regard to the fire at Tollesbury Marina we confirm it was arson, the police are involved but previous comments on possible culprits are misleading and inaccurate.

Great to hear. We enjoy our annual three or four night stay, the kids love the pool and the bar food is great. As important is that the staff are really helpful and knowledgable.
