Just returned from a few days sailing around Arran. Best food was Brodick Brassarie - wonderful quality. Worst was Lochranza Hotel - reheated frozen food, grumpy staff and dog turds outside on the terrace.

100% aggree, especially the Lochranza bit.

Place i'd definatley recommend is the Kildonan Hotel.
It was bought over, a few years back by an American, who is a friend of a friend, and he is constantly developing it. The food is very good also.

Alistair.

Last time I was in the Lochranza the grumpy barpeople were ignoring customers and made a point of slamming the door when someone left it ajar.
We saw the grub being served before we ordered... and left.
Is the Brasserie the wee place round the back of the coop? It used to be the Back Bar. will have to try.
The Pierhead in Lamlash last Summer opened a restaurant bit seperate from the bar. I haven't heard any reports but feel the need for investigation.

Not behind the Coop, it's 50 yards up the road opposite the small Coop (at the Northern end of the town). Agree, excellent place, and child friendly.

Food's OK ish at the Corrie Hotel, staff a bit hit and miss, atmosphere is what you make it.
