We have lost the whip arial and the wind indicator from the top of our mast. I have no idea as to which model or manufacturer it came from as it came with the boat and I have not yet summond sufficient courage, dutch or otherwise to climb to the top of the mast to find out.

My questions are: 1). Will any whip do, I have a spare one from a previous boat which was used to pick up Decca signals, there is a black plastic tube about 12" long(30cm) which I asume the whip will screw into? 2). Is it possible to fit any wind indicator to the plastic tube which is all that remains at the top of our mast or will I have to buy the whole lot and run a new coaxil cable down the mast?.

Keep it simple idiot at large!. Thanks,

Can't answer the first question but I'm pretty sure that the aerial/wind indicator only comes as a unit or has to be compatible with a specific aerial - ie you can't fit the windy bit onto another aerial.

Couple of options here:

Combined with:

Or:

Hope this helps

Actually, Windex makes the AV model of their 15" wind indicator to fit onto whip antennas. People used to modify the standard unit to fit over a whip so Windex came out with the AV to satisfy that market.
