If so, just a thought...

This year hasn't been a great year for flogging boats. So boat delivery chaps are doing all they can to get current new boat orders delivered asap - so that they gettem into this years's figure and don't get the sack. BUT make sure that if a boat is delivered on or around the last day of december... they date the build certificate Jan 1 2003. Otherwise your new possesion will be a whole year old the following morning and worth 15-20% less, even before allowing for all the damage caused by the massive party....

it's a good point you make but in the case of the inevitable happening and the yacht arrives it is unlikely to be worth 15-20% less. this could be the case with a powerboat but rarely a yacht. most people in these situations, similarly with stock boats that were a year or two old, advertise the boat with the year launched/commissioned as the main feature.

suppose that a pre-xmas holiday boat is the 'friday boat' and the new year boat is the 'monday boat'. so if you are really unlucky you will get a friday pre-xmas boat.

only way to get around this is to book a factory tour, on a wednesday, to watch yours being built.

Ford Sierras

Sad to think that yachts are now in the land of the Ford Sierra. Thank god that servicing costs are a bit easier but I expect the govt. will bring in a water fund fund tax disc if we make boats too automotive like!!!!

Brian - absolutely none taken, I am well used to the barbed comments about my pride and joy (no, not the wife, I mean my Bav!!). In case you're not aware, there has been some long running and good natured banter ref the merits of old versus new boats, and me and my Bav have been in the thick of it!! Hence my apparently sharp reply - it was not meant that way honestly!
