Are there specialist pliers to remove this ring nut?

After a great deal of cursing, I managed to remove the tap ring nut shown in the picture using external circlip pliers. The pin diameter on the pliers is a good bit smaller than the holes in the nut, hence a lot of slippage causing burring of the nut.

This is the nut once removed.

Anyone know of a specialist tool to remove the nut with less swearing required? Ideally adjustable to suit various sizes of nut, not fixed pin distance.

Many thanks.

Get a Watch-back Removal Tool from Ebay. You can fit two points that are a close fit in those indentations and then open them out to the correct distance so that they do not jump out of engagement. Cheap and effective.

Alternatively cut a short length of mild steel flat bar. File the edges to fit in the indentations and use it like a screwdriver; apply a small adjustable spanner to turn the flat bar and the nut. Even cheaper and just as effective although not as efficient.
