Are Sailors Superstitious?

I have heard a few superstitions like not changing a boats name but are sailors realy superstitious these days or is it a thing of the past.

I used to go to sea with an old lifeboat staff coxwain that would not let you aboard if you wore anything green, swan-vesta matches were banned as well as Vicar's and females!!!!............despite all that he taught me many things that I will be eternally gratefull.
