Are microfibre towels a must on boats?

Got stuck in shower at home when I forgot to hang my 'proper' towel near the door.
Had to use the small microfibre cloth which is usually reserved for cleaning the tiles!
Once I mastered the 'dab' technique it worked well.
I had to wring the cloth out a couple of times but it dried me pretty well.
I now use these all the time on the boat, easy to wring out and dry in no time.
I will have to look out for the 'looped' ones as the 'dabbing' process is a little slower.

For those who don't like normal microfibre - and I'm with you on that - but want to save the weight/bulk of an ordinary towel, try Aquis towels. We have used them for years now on the boat & while travelling and they are great.

Originally only available in white and then in a pale green, they are now also available in blue or grey. Go for the XL for a decent bath size towel.

We have just ordered another two through Amazon (they are US imports)

We have a sort of "hybrid" pair of microfibre/normal towels - as much as they're volme saving they dry very quickly aswell...nice compromise of comfort, convenience, function and form for our liveaboard space...
