Are Garmin Bluecharts a Rip Off?

Looking at a new plotter. My old Raymarine used Navonics cards that covered the whole of the UK and Ireland. To do the same with Bluecharts it looks like I would need to purchase about 5 SD cards?

Is this correct? If so why would anyone buy Garmin?

No that isn't correct. Check Garmin's website.

On high end plotters you have a few options for cards covering the whole of UK/Ireland, depending on how much of the rest of Europe you want included.

Lower end plotters include a chart for UK/Ireland.

Well that does not seem correct James. If I use the chart selector on Garmins site Eu004r only covers the west cost of England for £165.99. They are not showing an all uk and Ireland chart.

Have you only got regular size coverage selected? Add large and extra large? Bluechart g2 has more options than vision has.

You need EU706L, that's what I have and it covers UK Ireland and continental coastal areas including some of the canals.
