Went on boat to get heater sorted today. No go of course, blower fan going but fuel pump no functiono. It looks suspiciously like mega unreliable SU unit from years ago .Morris 1000 mini etc, even my old Lotus had one.Surely it cannot still be used in this heater unit,Any way gave it a good whacking but still no tick tick tick.Have removed p**y thing in order to give it a good seeing to at work tomorrrow.
If I remember correctly it has got a set on points lurking in there somewhere.

Just hold tight dear it will not be so rough when we get round the corner, trust me.

Are you sure it's the unit? General consensus seems to be that the Ardic units need lots of volts and if your batteries are a bit down they don't fire up. Suggest you check the batteries before spending too much time or money on it.

same problem here, feed cables were small and when batteries were low then the two combined resulted in no heat.

put the battery charge on a heat came out.

ended up with new batteries and new cables to heater

Fixed it.The little set of points inside motor body were all crusty.Quick wipe with emery board.Tick tick tick...........

Just hold tight dear it will not be so rough when we get round the corner, trust me.

Well done oldgit, you have won the 2002 nautical achievement award for being the only living person to fix an ardic heater! Most peeps (including me after many hours of cussing and swearing) just chuck em away!

Re: Down below.

When cruising along at around 40 knots in my P33 and passing assorted surface drive craft,Leopards, low flying aircraft etc I glance at my fish finder /depth thingy and notice all sorts of junk on seabed. Now I always believed this to be stolen cars or old shopping trolleys, but I now realise the error of my ways. The bottom of the sea is in fact coated with a thick layer of shagged boat heaters.............

Just hold tight dear it will not be so rough when we get round the corner, trust me.
