I have followed the debates that have been going on across at least three of the boards regarding the pros and cons of chartplotters and PCs. I have question, is there a chartplotting system that can accept uploads of ARCS charts from a PC or other source for that matter?

I use ARCS charts on my PC for planning and naviagting but can see the advantages of having a weatherproof chartplotter on deck. I specifically don't want to use another chart system, such as CMAP, because I find the ease of reference between the paper charts and ARCS a real plus. Plus the fact that I have over 100 ARCS charts and don't want to duplicate expense.

Advice welcome.

I would suggest that the best way forward in your circumstances is to get a waterproof secondary display.

I used an ordinary Pc with a 12v LCD screen. I initially used a splitter on the monitor cable so that I could have iot well down below for computer work or on a bracket just inside the companionway for use at sea. This worked very well but I was lucky enough to come across a 10" LCD screen going VERY cheap and mounted that permanently insided the cabin with a perspex panel set into the bulkhead so the screen could be viewed from the cockpit at all times.

Worked really well, gave much better definition that any reasonably priced chart plotter and using Arcs charts was able to navigate right onto the pontoon in fog/poor weather.
