Yup, it's that time of year again. ARC+ which is the one that pit stops in Cape Verdes, sets off tomorrow.

So there will be 94 excited/nervous/ both skippers and crew getting hyped up for the big adventure. No doubt that in the morning, there will be a few hangovers too.

Next week, the main fleet set off, don't know how many yet but it will be on the yellowbrick app soon.

And a large number of participants will no doubt stop calling thAtlantic Ocean Northern part a pond!!

Seems to be starting now

I wonder if there's a chance to fit in the anchorage there after this one. We'd like to visit the local chandleries.
Now in Corralejo on Fuerteventura, where the marina is half empty.

The ARC + has started but the berths freed up may be booked out for the main ARC. Would recommend an advance booking.

Big adventure under way, soon some will be discovering/rediscovering seasickness. Still, most will be over that in a day or two....

You never used to be able to book a berth in Las Palmas marina Gran Canaria, even without the ARC being there as they used to always say just turn up and wait in turn....

They are probably one of the most awkward marina offices in the Northern Hemisphere.....
Even Corralejo took three days of paperwork back-and-forth before we were able to pay for our berth. But now we're "in the system" for Canarian municipal marinas, so it is likely a bit easier.
I think the primary issue is that they don't really have a process for dealing with short-term stays, so the whole process is like you'd want a permanent spot.

But yeah, I don't imagine we would fit in Las Palmas before ARC proper leaves in two weeks. But maybe to the anchorage in the front...

Yeah, there are a few marinas in the whole Canaries that are easy. Lots aren't. It's a difficult concept when most are used to North Europe. I'm local here now, can get by in Spanish. But some places are more frustrating than being in the wrong queue at a post office behind the deaf old lady that has just dropped her purse. You want to help but not always appreciated.

If you go east of Fuerta, you will find that Rosario is OK and Gran Tarajal is laid back to comatose. Cold showers though but the Coffradia has best fish in the world!!

Enjoy your cruising!!
