Araldite fast set underwater

During my jetwash this spring a tiny small fingernail piece of coppercoat came off. I want to prevent ingress of water or marine growth until I take the boat out at the end of the season. Is it ok to just put some Araldite fast set over this spot or would anyone have better ideas. I plan to do this between tides when hull is dry. Cheers

Araldite rapid set might work but is quite soft stuff, not very durable. I would use Milliput, which cures wet and is far stronger. There are also many plumbers' equivalents, which may be more readily available for you.

Rings bell that araldite fast set absorbs water and softens further when immersed. Can't remember were I read it but I've always avoided using it underwater. I'm pretty certain it isn't suitable for constant immersion. Be interesting if someone else can confirm.

What is Milliput and where would I get it. What about some of that two part stuff you mould together till it all looks white and is supposed to cure underwater, designed to repair holes in boats in an emergency?

Hello Viv, thanks for that. Where have you sailed in the Aegean, anywhere around the Sporades as in Skiathos, Alonisos or Skopelos?

Milliput is a two-pack putty, epoxy based. It was originally only made in yellow but now comes in white and other colours. It is widely used in model making, so available from model shops but I buy on line. Extremely useful stuff I always carry some for gel coat repairs. It sets under water and can be used wet. There are plumbers' versions but I find them inferior.

I am based in the Dodecanese but sail most of the Aegean during the summer.
