Good Morning All,

I’m looking for a possible rent or advice of a prop puller for an Aquastar 27. Slight problem being the rudder stuck is quite close to the propeller so space is tight.

Wanting to remove to polish, service and balance then to buy the prop pulled model I know fits for future use.

Does anyone know of a place to hire units local to Swanwick Marina / Southampton area?

Many thanks in advance,

Here is what I had made up.
Doubled up as prop remover and cutlass bearing change tool.
Props can be stuck. Mine needed lots of heat applied to hub evenly. Not to the blades. All whilst under tension from the tool. Then sharp tap to end of shift and off they pop. Need to tie the prop back to something si it don't fly off and fall to the ground.

Thanks for the response. Looks like just the job! Who made that up for you as would prefer to acquire a tool rather than pay an engineer to do it for future use?

Thanks again,

I designed it to suit our boat, copying ideas from internet and got a local metal fabricator to cut the plates which I bought on the Web.

Ted French at Abbey Engineering in Netley could make the parts from fag packet sketches, he'll understand what your trying to do.

Or Graham at Wilkinson Precision Engineering in Hedge End is perfectly capable, keen and incredibly helpful.

As JFM says, dpb gets a gold star.

Always slacken the nut but leave on the shaft.
For the really reluctant prop, apply your means of pressure and leave over night.
Means you are not around when it finally lets go..... to frighten the life out of you.
Its the smaller props that seem to always go "BANG" , bigger stuff surrenders more sedately.
