Aquador opinions?

I am slowly falling head over heels in love with the Aquador HT range. I currently have a Regal 2550 LSC which is fast, sexy, and PETROL! I want the aquador because it looks practical, reasonably quick and DIESEL. I suppose it's a bit like getting rid of the foxy little minx I was seeing in my early 20's for the steady, dependable (and not unglamorous, to be fair) lady of my dreams I am with at the moment. (Oh, christ, she's going to kill me if she sees that one!)

Does anyone have any experience, either through ownership or otherwise of the 23HT or 26HT? I would be very grateful if you would share your opinions with me. Provided I can sell my Regal, I should be able to afford a decently equipped new 23 HT or a second hand 26HT.

Any and all comments very gratefully accepted.

MBM did a good article comparing the Aquador 26HT & 26DC in Aug 2003 issue. Might be good to get a back copy. Look like fine boats to me

Thanks for the back-copy steer. Just ordered the 23HT and 26HT reports from MBM and MBY. I was worried that the 23 would be too small and that the 26 WILL be too expensive. Aaaaah the agony of having no choice!

Thanks again

I've thought they were interesting boats for a while and considered buying a 2nd hand 26. However, changed my mind and paid a bit more cash for a Botnia 25, for it's allegedly superior sea keeping and more basic but practical layout. As said above, MBM liked them.
The only criticism that I have heard is about the build quality of the boats built, for a short period, in S.Ireland. Don't even know if the 26HT was one of the range that was built there though.
Good luck.

If I could afford one I'd buy one. Me and the missus looked at the DC and HT at the last boat show at Earls Court. She even said she liked the HT which amazed me as she don't like to be enclosed on the boat.
All I've got to do now is either rob a bank or win the lottery....chances of either.....zilch!

The other option is that you could go out and work for a living!

These are very impressive boats. A friend has a 23HT on our pontoon and it is a very smart boat. This one has a KAD32 and was the boat actually featured in MBM around about Dec 2003.

It was the smallest boat on the 2004 MBM Paris Cruise and had no problem with the crossing. Except for the fog on the way back, but thats a different story

OK what numbers you got and/or what bank you gonna hit?

One thing that did strike me was the ones we looked at, most of the "nice" touches were all extra's. Still very nice capable boats though

I have just read the back issues I received from MBM amd MBY ( bit steep at £7 for a couple of sheets of photocopied black and white paper) and it seems that they are of the same opinion as most of the responses here.

I would really like the 26 for the extra space and 2 double-ish berths but it may be down to hard cash facts and have to be the 23. It's all academic until I sell my Regal anyway. (Unless someone knows of a remote bank/building society)

I live in North Wales and my nearest dealer is in Dunlaoghaire which is a quick 90 mins on the HSS. I vae had some brochures off them and I will take a quick hop over in the next few weeks. It will be interesting to see if the Euro/£ thing makes much difference to the price.

I'll keep you informed.

Cheers

North Wales eh! Same as me (well, boat anyway). Not Pwllheli or Porthmadog by any chance?

Yep - Aquador is good. You must have read the 28C test in this months MBM? OK - bigger boat, but same build principles.
Good luck with it, 'cos if you get it, then you will have a very much extended boating season compared to what you have now.

No I'm in the other 'P' or Port Dinorwic as it was - now Y Felinheli. North Wales is a great place to cruise from, nice beaches, lots of bays and little villages and access to other areas like The Isle of Man and Ireland etc. It's a shame we haven't got the option of nipping off to thw world of cheap vino like you South Coast crowd though.

Has anyone bought an Aquador recently and have any comments/recommendations for a prospective buyer?

Also particularly interested if anyone knows what model/years were built in Ireland and what build problems occurred with those boats?

Thanks in advance!

I like them as well but if you enjoy standing up to steer your present boat then you may be disappointed with the HTs. In any sort of a seaway I reckon that you could do yourself a mischief on the HT "frame". Try before you buy.

Re the Irish Question I'd quess at around 1999-2001 but can't honestly remember. Why don't you ask the dealer, especially as he's in Ireland.
