I have an Aqua Signal Combi Deck Mast head light 25 Series. Does anyone have one? Ie this - (scroll down to the second from bottom and then click on that) http://www.aquasignal.info/ecat/index.php?category_id=1&subcategory_id=1&product_id=50 Having unstepped the mast to sort this out (not working!), I noticed that the deck light part doesn't seem to have any transparent cover or lens on it. Is that how its supposed to be do you know? Must say the bulb looked like it was quite corroded!

Re: Aqua Signal? SORRY bad link

The first link did work but it was the wrong page and I cant get a link to work to the right page either, but it is there!

Yes they do have a cover, and a reflector but no lens IIRC. It only clips on and can easily get knocked off. I made a simple cover for a friends light from a bit of sheet aluminium and attached it with a couple of small self tappers.

If you search through the Aqua Signal web site you will find spare parts for all their lamps listed. Armed with the exact number of the part you need you should be able to order it from a decent Chandler (my local guy does not fall into that category unfortunately) There have been two versions of the series 25 lights so make sure you have identified which you have before ordering parts.

I bet you will discover that the parts are so expensive you'll do what I did or buy a complete new cheapie.

What a co-incidence but when I took my mast down last year to change the rigging and check all what was not well I discovered the same thing with my deck light. Changed it for a new one with a glass lens, can't remember what I got from the local chandler, it now works. Incidentally the new one was a slightly looser fit then the old one. The replacement was easy to fit if you've a decent rivet tool and basic wiring skills!

Absolutely right.

I used to supply Aqua Signal lights. Although spares were available, the distributor did not hold any in stock and so imposed a hefty special order charge on the chandler which had to be passed on to the customer.

when you say a sheet of aluminium

[/ QUOTE ] Just as a shade. We had lost the whole thing. Perhaps i misunderstood you, you meant you just had no lens perhaps. I think they may not have a lens, leaving the bulb exposed.

I found the parts page for the 25 classic series but i can't make al ink to that work. You have to make your way there from the part finder page http://www.aquasignal.info/aquasignal_de/htdocs/sparepart_finder.php?id=39

It does not show a separate lens. We had lost 83106008 but it was different to that, no screw through it at the top. Had to make do without the reflector.

I have had a couple of boats with these Aquasignal lights. the deck light does not have any sort of lens or cover. The QH bulb is quite expensive and has a very short life in my experience. I would rate them as a waste of time and money. Just fit an ordinary steaming light

I think you are probably right about the waste of money thing - quite expensive too. Just had this note from the USA (emailed Aqua Signal - how sad is that??!!!). <span style="color:blue"> Good day Guy,
Thank you for your inquiry. I have copied our European office on this reply for any further assistance you may need as I am here in the U.S.. This light is designed without a lens for the deck light; the halogen bulb gets hot and would melt any lens that would be put there. The deck portion of this light is designed and angled to keep the majority of the elements from it. I hope this is helpful. Have a lovely day!Jutta, </span>

Re: Aqua Signal? SORRY bad link

That's v clever! I got the spares chart - great, thanks v much. The clever bit is, having gone to their main pages, how on earth did you get there?!!!

[/ QUOTE ] It is difficult to find. I know I've had trouble finding it before. This time I Googled for "Aqua Signal" did not limit it to a UK search 'cos its a German company. Picked on Aqua Signal AG at http://www.aquasignal.de which describes itself as "Eine Spezialleuchtenfabrik für maritime Leuchten und Lichtsysteme (mit Produktkatalog im PDF-Format). Then choose the English version and went to "spare part finder".

Prompted of course by the comments on lights made in the Ouzo report I want to replace the lenses on most of mine. The steaming light is best now only describable as translucent, the sidelights are not to good and nor is the tricolour. The only one that's any good is the stern light and that's because its on a mast that fits in the ensign staff socket so has spent most of its life stowed below.

Re: Aqua Signal? SORRY bad link

Thanks. I have nav lights at pulpit/pushpit level and mast head - guess not such a bad idea after all, after the Ouzo! Mind you, not much better if all crazed.
