Hi,
does someone know the procedure for changing an engine mounts and aligning the engine again?
I have had a diesel leak that has eaten the rubber and i need to know if i can just lift the engine and swap the foot or if its a leg off job to align the engine in the way Mercruisers do.

its a Sealine 365 with AQAD41's and VP290 DP legs.

many thanks.

If you know that the engine is currently aligned you could take some measurements now from the engine to the hull or some other suitable point and adjust the new mounts to get the same measurement??

If you look at where the flywheel housing tapers down to where it meets the transom shield you will see 3 square projections one each at 9, 12 and 3 o'clock. These should be equidistant from the round housing on the shield, so find something of similar thickness usually about 5-8 mm and insert it at the 3 points to see if the clearance is even. Adjust front feet to correct up/down and left/right.

Many thanks for this. It's just what i need.

Is it possible to lift the front of the engine slightly to get the new mounts under without disturbing the seal at the back and sinking the boat?

I would unbolt the foot from the block as I wouldn't think you could raise the engine to required height to clear it

Should be, I removed the engine completely with same engine drive combination with the boat afloat.
Even did a few trips with the engine missing......it was a twin engine boat.
