Just heard from my sister that when she got up this morning, she found the telephone wrapped up in a plastic bag. When she asked my 6 year old nephew why he did that, his explanation was:

His childminder had told him that the phone lines were being cleaned today and that he should put the phone in a plastic bag so that dust doesn't go everywhere when they blow down the line.

I have a good mind to report the childminder to social services!

I'm off to the school in an hour with 2 kids all packed for a week's skiing. If some b*****d is winding me up.......................

Nice one Jimi - after wading through the blurb (which was very funny), it took me a while to identify the material being used.

BTW - looked a bit like Bowden Doors in Northumberland, but years since I've either been there or climbed.

Sgeir, it looks like Stanage or one of the many Derbyshire gritstone edges to me but it is impossible to see what the rock texture is from the small photo.

our local paper (Cornish Times) has an article showing potato growers checking on their crops by putting their ear to a pipe stuck in the ground. apparently they can hear the potatoes sprouting.

then again some pretty strange things happen down here.
