Applying Lettering to an Inflatable

I've just nearly had a heart-attack at the cost of stick-on lettering or stencils from Funkymonkey, let alone the cost of flexiblepaint.

Any alternative ideas ot tips for adding a tender name plus tt "boatname" without it costing a fortune? I would like one on the transom (Plywood, so less difficult) and one on the bow which gets folded into the bag so needs to be durable and flexible.

I use a permanent marker pen. This needs refreshing every few years but can look tidy enough if done carefully. It cleans off with white spirit but I don't suppose that the average scrote knows this.

£10.50 plus postage does not seem overly costly compared to the price of the new inflatable. The price is for the whole name and not each individual letter

This is 500mm long and only cost £25 from FunkyMonkey. Excellent chap too.

I bought a paint pen on eBay for £5 and a stencil from Smith's for even less. It's fine and the dinghy has been inflated/deflated many times since application

I made own stencil of name, make cover with french polish, sprayed name on rubber boat with flexible Plastikote paint can. Stayed on long time many year.

eBay ‘self adhesive vinyl lettering’. Typically £3 for a strip of 8 letters 60mm high, or 10 letters 50mm high, in the font and colour of your choice. That’s what I did on Belle Serene’s tenders’s transom, and it looks great IMHO. (I did the same on a life buoy too.). Whichever supplier I used also let me specify an unusual font, which wasn’t on their standard list, to match the style on her transom and spray dodgers.

I used normal house paint on hypalon dinghy but it stays inflated 6 months of the year. It had got very tatty after 16 years so I "refreshed" it this year.
