Hi
We're getting battered here with strong winds and torrential rain, the river Tawe is now in full spate and in danger of flooding, I cannot remember seing it so high!!!
My boat would have been safe as it's in the Marina but what do you Guys do with your boats on Moorings in the rivers across the county?????? It must be a worrying time????

Rgds
Julian

yes, I have often thought that, where boats are moored to the bank of the river, when it floods you can not get to it and the boat is tied to the bottom!

I suppose you call your local marina and move it before it floods!

Drove to Wiltshire yesterday evening. Driving down the M4, was battered by wind, cars going across three carriageways, never mind trucks. Wind gusted so strongly at times, that on cruise control, 4litre engine downshifted to maintain headway. Awesome, some of the strongest winds I've driven in

Got to J17 where I wanted to get off, and gridlocked as police were barricading road to Marlmesbury. They let me through when I explained I didn't want to get all the way to Malmesbury, but cautioned me I'd probably be turned back as even back roads shut off. 99% of cars turned away

Found the reason for the roadblock, as tree down om mainroad. Then went back, turned down side roads trying to find a way through. Soldiers had been drafted in, and nearly every side road blocked by them as powerlines down over side roads.

Finally got where I was going and even made it to restaurant on time, but nearly headed back home while only 5 miles from destination

Ya wouldna hafv been laffing if you'd been driving in that stuff. Jeep was fine, little cars were going all over the place.

I've never had it downshift on the flat before. When the wind gusted, it was like driving into a brick wall.

The side roads in Wilts looked like a battle zone, Trees and power lines down everywhere, roads littered with trees and walls and crap. Quite scary to be bombing down little country lanes, thinking you've found a way through, to find soldiers waving you down. Maybe I have a guilty conscience? /forums/images/icons/laugh.gif

At the Berks end of M4, where it was raining, the windscreen wipers were lifting of the screen with the force of wind, so totally useless.

Would have need a ton of lead ballast to keep it down /forums/images/icons/wink.gif

Hi Julian,

I have borrowed an inner harbour mooring for mine until March. I do remember vividly, the first squall to hit just hours before the move back in December - it had my boat bucking around like a bronco horse.
