On our way to the Shipright Arms (see related thread), our outboard decide to pack up (well - it did not start, dud spark plug). So we decided to row from our anchorage just West of the Helford moorings to the shore, and land on a slipway which has always intrigued me. It has a derrick and and couple of "sheds" and well kept wall. We made our way up a track zig-zagging through some really impressive botanical samples (tree ferns, Gunnera manicata, blue hydrangeas and others) growing amongst the resident maple woodland. The track lead up to a very much well kept yard, skirting a well hidden property (clearly inhabited) before, eventually, leaving through an entrance clearly stating "Private, no public right of way" or something like that.
So, sorry. Whoever you are. We will not do it again. Force majeure. Or whatever...
You have an amazing hidey-hole down there. Lucky you! Congratulations for keeping it so well... In future, would you consider making a path to join up your secret landing place with the National Trust path running not too far from there?
