Evening all

I have a Apelco VXE 200 radio on board my boat (as fitted when the boat was purchased) but no paperwork. Can anyone suggest where I may find a user manual for it ?.

I have contacted Raymarine who gave me a link where they felt I might find it, but no luck. Even though there were lots of other Apelco models there. Perhaps someone can suggest a source, or perhaps a model closely resembling the VXE 200 which may have similar controls/operation for which I can download a manual ?.

I am due to do my one day radio course very soon and would like to familiarize myself with the radio before then.

All assistance will be much appreciated as ever

Many thanks

I've got a copy of the manual on seven A4 sheets. I can pop another copy in the post to you or scan it and send it by email if you want. Send me a PM with your address (for posting) or email (for scans).

I've still got the old radio but the LCD display was getting difficult to read even though the radio worked last time I tried it out.

Hello Newman / Dipper
Many tides have passed, but I too now have an Apelco VXE200 with no manual - any chance there's still one out there?

Thanks in anticipation

I do still have the manual Keith but it is for a VXL501. I assume it will be very similar to yours.

I've lost the original scans but if you PM me your email address, I'll rescan it and email it to you. I have a bit of a hectic week so it might take a few days.

Thanks for that - the vxl501 is handheld though isn't it? the vxe200 is ship's radio...
The reason I'm after a manual is that the radio didn't work when I got the boat; I've replaced the coachroof VHF connector and although I can raise the marina at 1W I can't get Solent CG at 25W from Portsmouth so I don't think it's working too well... There is a "TST" button on the set though and I'm wondering if that might help find the problem...

I thought I was going mad (maybe I am). I also had the VXE200 (I still do) and have found the manual for that so I can scan and email that to you no problem.

The TST and RST buttons are to do with selcall.

There's a 1/25W button. Presumably you have selected 25W (shows Hi on screen) to try calling Solent CG. Interestingly, in the handheld manual it automatically operates at only 1W on Ch67 and if you want 5W you have to overide it. I can't find anything that says that the VXE200 is the same but it may be.

There's also a selector button for International or USA channels.
