I don't normally have problems getting anyione to boat with me .... but my schedule is a kilter and my obvious choices cannot serve me properly as I have become accustomed to.

If there is anyone out there that fancies a non-RYA based and humorous sail in Solent with one of life's / forum's controversial characters - ME ...... then please e-mail me on :

nluther@solent-life.co.uk

Non-drinkers and Anti-smoking lobby need not apply (I don't smoke - but engine does ....)

??????

Has NO-one a sense of adventure nowadays ????

A free trip saling with Nigel .....the wonder of the oceans ????

Actually get to meet and throw abuse at him face to face instead of blindly behind a PC keyboard ????

Not so easy as that....

First.

Who will prepare the Passage Plan?

Are your lifejackets certified as recently serviced?

Do you have a certified liferaft?

Will we need to sign an insurance undertaking re skipper's & crew's liabilities? What is your insured limit?

Is there a full first aid kit on board?

Is the gas installation amintained by a C.O.R.G.I. registered installer with the necessary LPG extension?

Although there appears to be a stock of intoxicants on board, do these remain under lock and key whilst at sea?

You have to be so careful these days!

Steve Cronin

ps all above very TIC of course! I'd LOVE to make it but since I'm skiving off to Greece for six out of the next ten weekends (& staying for some weeks in-between), I daren't take another day off!

<hr width=100% size=1>The above is, like any other post here, only a personal opinion

East Coast ....

Now that was a possibility not so long ago - as my partner in biz is based in Suffolk ..... and he is a boater as well .... presently boatless.
But in end she stayed where is in Solent. Main point for me is my mum is getting on and when I visit UK - I like to be near where she is ... and she is Solent area based. My boys are just up the road also. When you have limited time in UK - it becomes very important.

I used to enjoy the east coats on coasters .... up to Ipswich and other haunts ....... except - sorry about this NE - that for me as a Siussex bred was wild country !

If I wasn't sailing myself this w/end I'd be there like a shot. The thought of us two sailing about un-controlled could definately clear the Solent on a bank holiday w/end.

Just imagine, red ensign flying over a defaced blue from the forestay, fenders hanging over the side and trailing in the water, me in my best sailing duds - holey tee shirt - oil stained jeans and a "kiss me quick" hat. A trail of empty beer cans to mark our wake, sails up but loads of smoke coming from the exhaust and an up turned (empty) brandy bottle in the rigging to act as a motor sailing cone.

Gezzs what have I missed<s>

You forgot .....

Ignoring all etiquette and col-regs ...... shouting and gesturing at every MOBO around, ........ trailing ropes to catch all Jet-Skis - that should create some fishy stories of the one I caught yesterday ! ......... making sure the mooring line thrown to shore asssitance is the mankest oiliest one possible - clean at our end of course ....

YOU DON'T KNOW WHAT YOU ARE MISSING !!!!

1 berth already taken .... 1 still available should anyone care for it ..... honest no scrubbing decks or payments necessary .... bring your own booze and yerself + sleeping bag ......
