Need to replace some Marine Ply Boards that line the Cockpit of my Sea Ray Sundancer they are fairly flat and somebody suggested using Abs or Arcryllic Sheets. They will be covered in vinyl so will not show.

Anybody tried this ?

I used Epoxy Sheet for more detailed work. Much easier to work with and the go to if you are going to cover in vinyl AFAIK. I used it to rebuild by dashboard where I wouldnt get the strength required from ply veneer due to the 2mm thickness required. Acrylic sheet without vinyl cover looks good too and my boat came OEM with it being used as cubby hole doors and sliding panels for storage in opaque black which works well

It's not for structural use and won't take any weight. But just to cover the inside Transom space where seating used to be but has long since been removed. I'm gonna cover it in vinyl and it's a flat piece anyway so just needs to look nice I do need to create Seat Bases as well so may need thicker or alternative for that but they have leg supports.. Like the idea for the dash panels but also looking at Carbon ABS sheet and adding in custom switches and dials ?

Oh OK. Vinyl as in seat covering? If so how do you plan on fixing the vinyl to the back. Glue? My only concern is I have found contact adhesive seems to weaken in the heat. Acrylic would solve the wood rot issues that seem to occur after 5 years or so on that particular transom panelling

The Primary concern is this back section covering the old transom space, (Ill be getting rid of the old gas bottle for two smaller 4.5kgs in a locker) considering using PVC foam board in 5mm it will be covered in a foam backed vinyl can either use heavy duty staples or as suggested by someone else stainless rivets.

Need to re-build the seat behind the drivers consul but that needs to be stronger so not sure about that yet but would like extending leg sections to give a lounge area. will do away with the rea transom bench seat altogether
