Anyone remember this old hulk at Watchet

I thought this subject might pep up the forum a little as it seems to be fading away. Where's everyone gone?

It's the same on the classic boat forum, only 3 people logged in! Looks like Tupperware boats have conquered the world,

The age of wood is over, the age of plastic has arrived. (Ok that's 40 years out of date)

I'm embarrassed now, 'cos the hulk is plastic, although about 48 years old!

I'm building a new boat, and the hull is GRP, but I'm hoping to trim the interior in wood.
The reality is there's so little maintenance on plastic, what other choice is there?
My tender is a 45 years old dell quay dory, still functions perfectly after zero maintenance, and it's been outside continuously over that period; try that with a wooden boat!

Can't make out the name of the boat from the picture... Some friends of mine had a 'Seamaster' motor cruiser called 'Dorella' in the 1970s, kept at the Dog and Duck Ferry on the Severn in Worcester. Same boat?

Transit diesel and Volvo 290 drive, new GRP superstructure in sport fisher style, comprehensive stainless rails, ladder and targa style mast. two berth cabin and large cockpit + all the toys.

I've got a transit 2.5l diesel in my barge, but with a gearbox and shaft, Superb choice. Bought mine from Lancing marine in Chichester; highly recommended. Your hull looks like a semi. Displ., what's your target cruise speed?

I'll be building my hardtop in plywood, I reckon it's lighter than Grp, but wont last as long. Although I'm told that epoxy and matt would make a ply structure nearly as heavy as fibreglass.

Rebuilt ss rails cost a fortune, are you going to fabricate your own?

Hope my interior will look like this:

When you've finished, there's a project boat outside my window :)
